Hettich CombiDancer Infra-Red Vortex-Evaporator
The CombiDancer Infra-Red Vortex-Evaporator is a Vortex Vaccum Concentrator from the manufacturer, Hettich. This system performs orbital shaking(vortexing) on samples to keep them in motion. It more effective than conventional centrifuges, as the evaporation surface area is significantly greater. Evaporation rate is also sped up by even heat distribution, which reduces bumping and potential freezing. Imbalance is not an issue for the vacuum concentrator. The vacuum concentrator is also capable of dealing with light/heat sensitive samples with a controlled
Heating Control:
The sample surface may be heated with halogen rods. A compartment heater will prevent solvent condensation in the sample compartment. A heated shaker base plate is also included. The vacuum concentrator also includes ceramic infrared heaters in the lid and interior chamber wall heating.
Other Features:
- 3x to 10x faster than conventional evaporators/concentrators
- Vortexing requires no balancing of the samples, no compressing of the gas-phase, and no rotating parts
- Flexibility – you can us whatever sample container you like
- Automation capability
- Magnetic linkage

Hettich PoleStar Coldtrap
The PoleStar cold trap has been designed to meet the most demanding requirements of the evaporation process and to ensure the highest flexibility for the condensation or solvent recovery of solvents. The closed loop cooling system cools the cooling coils down to –50°C. This ensures that all solvents condense on the coils protecting the vacuum pump. The cooling coils plus the chamber is PTFE coated for maximum chemical resistance. The cold trap has a special rapid defrost mode, which allows the removal of a 5mm layer of ice within seconds. A stopcock located on the front of the instrument permits easy draining of the solvents. This cold trap is practically maintenance-free, though the fins in the back have to be kept clean from dust deposits.

Vacuubrand PC 2003 VARIO Vacuum Pump
This is a diaphragm pump with changeable speed settings. The pump is comparatively silent. The pump measures vapor pressure and adjusts its speed to the parameters chosen by the vacuum concentrator. By linking programs in the vacuum concentrator and utilizing the features of the vacuum pump complex solvent mixture can be evaporated to dryness. The pump has three modes of operation, the two that are mainly used by the vacuum concentrator are the PREC mode which will pull a vacuum to a desired mbar at a specified speed and the AUTO mode which measures the vapor pressure and adjusts the speed automatically. Options are available for the vacuum concentrator to automatically switch between the diaphragm and a rotary vane or scroll pump.
